Workshop Series
The WSU PMHSC is happy to provide a variety of workshops designed to strengthen a pre-health science candidate in numerous ways. Workshop topics vary from semester to semester. Check back regularly for a list of workshop topics, dates, times, and locations. Our workshops are held either in person or via Zoom. Sign up to receive a reminder email 24 hours before the event. Reminder emails are sent between 24 and 48 hours before the workshop date.

March 2025
Personal Statement for Graduate Health Programs (medical, dental, PA, etc.) - Tuesday, March 4 at 5:00 pm on Zoom
- This workshop will prepare students to write a proper personal statement when applying to post-undergraduate health programs.
Nursing Essay Writing - Tuesday, March 18 at 3:00 pm on Zoom
- This workshop will prepare nursing candidates to write their essays for the WSU College of Nursing application. Join Arnelle Douglas and Helen Wilson to learn more about this essential application element.
Nursing Application - Thursday, March 27 at 11:00 am on Zoom
- This workshop will prepare candidates to apply to the WSU College of Nursing and help them strengthen their applications.
April 2025
Jump Start Your Application for Graduate Health Programs (medical, dental, PA, etc.) - Thursday, April 10 at 4:00 pm on Zoom
- A good application is one that is well thought out. This workshop will review the components of the application you can get a jump start on before May.

ForagerOne Research Search Engine Demo - Tuesday, February 25 at 4:00 pm on Zoom
- Join us for a virtual demo of the new search engine that students can use to find research projects and mentors. Kelly Dormer, Director of Academic Programs and Lauren Bonilla, Program Manager of Undergraduate Research & High Impact Learning will join us!
New England College of Optometry (NECO) Information Session - Wednesday, February 26 at 4:00 pm on Zoom
- Students will learn from the Senior Associate Director of Admissions about the optometry program and admission requirements at the New England College of Optometry (NECO) in Boston. Q & A will follow.
March 2025
University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) Nursing Program Information Session - Tuesday, March 4 at 3:00 pm on Zoom
- This special event will introduce students to the University of Detroit Mercy's Nursing program for either transferring to the BSN program or completing their post-bachelor, accelerated nursing programs. Pre-nursing students benefit by having nursing program options, and learning about the UDM Nursing program will give students one more option in applying to nursing programs.
Michigan College of Optometry (MCO) Information Session - Monday, March 17 at 4:00 pm on Zoom

- Join MSU CON transfer admissions representatives for an overview of the Transfer BSN program. Learn about the program structure, curriculum, admission requirements, and application process.
Rosalind Franklin Physician Assistant Program Information Session - Thursday, March 27 at 4:30 pm on Zoom
- Join us on Zoom on Thursday, March 27, at 4:30 to hear from the Rosalind Franklin Physician Assistant Program representatives. They will discuss admissions, requirements, and other details about their PA program.
